Chinmay Kondekar: Controls Engineer
Meet Chinmay Kondekar! Chinmay first started with Patti Engineering in August 2020 as an intern, working mostly with data capture and analytics. After he completed graduate degree, he joined the team full time in May 2021 as a Controls Engineer.
“Chinmay has been an excellent addition to our team,” said Sam Hoff, CEO of Patti Engineering. “He has a very positive attitude and has quickly ramped up his controls engineering skills.”
As an intern, he worked on a project with a major automotive manufacturer involving data analytics and acquisition for die cast machines. As controls engineer, his projects have included supporting an automotive battery assembly line, and working on the integration of data collection IPCs in the case study that is our featured article this month.
“I like Patti Engineering’s attitude of providing engineering solutions for any customer needs, Chinmay said. “The variety of projects in different areas of manufacturing is always a fun engineering experience.”
Chinmay grew up in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pune. After moving to Michigan in 2019, he began his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton.
His family, in India, have pursued similar career paths. His mother has a diploma in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s in Computer Sciences and is a professor of Masters in Computer Applications at a local engineering college. His father has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and runs his own consultancy for designing sheet metal dies for the auto industry in India.
Chinmay likes to stay active, weaving his newfound Michigander hobbies with the sports of his youth. . “Coming from India I wasn’t into winter sports, but I have taken to snowmobiling and snowboarding during my stay in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan!” he said. “I enjoy watching international and league Cricket and I play badminton on the weekends. I love the craft beer scene in Michigan and I try to offset that by trying to hit the gym whenever I have time in the day!”
