It's no gaffe; Today we are announcing our second annual Customer of the Year Award and we're certain it is Caterpillar, Inc. in Seguin, Texas! We are proud to have worked with CAT since the spring of 2010.
In today's newsletter, you'll read a little bit about why we chose them and five things you might not know about the company. You'll especially want to read on if you're a podcast fan.

Patti Engineering Awards Caterpillar Inc. as Customer of the Year 2016
Control system integrator celebrates innovation in American manufacturing with second annual Customer of the Year Award presented to Caterpillar Inc. in Seguin, TX
Auburn Hills, MI and Austin, TX– February 28, 2017 – Patti Engineering, Inc., a leader in control system integration, today announced that it has awarded Caterpillar Inc. in Seguin, Texas as Customer of the Year 2016; This is the second year Patti Engineering has presented the award;
Patti Engineering’s management team voted on nominations submitted by team members, and chose this year’s recipient based on four criteria:
- Forward Thinking
- Innovative Solutions
- Trusted Relationships
- Fair and Ethical Business Practices
Caterpillar Inc. has been a customer of Patti Engineering since they started production in Seguin, TX in the spring of 2010.
“Caterpillar Inc. in Seguin, Texas has proven to be an excellent example of our Customer of the Year criteria,” said Sam Hoff, CEO of Patti Engineering. “We applaud them for the innovation they are showing in their manufacturing processes.”

Five Things You Might Not Know About Caterpillar, Inc.
- The Caterpillar Tractor Co. was formed in 1925 by a merger between The Holt Manufacturing Company and C. L. Best Tractor Co. If you’re in Texas, the name Holt might ring a bell. Peter Holt, the owner of the San Antonio Spurs, is the great-grandson of Benjamin Holt, who started The Holt Manufacturing Company.
- Caterpillar launched a new podcast this year called “The Dirt,” which gives an inside look at Caterpillar, the people, the technology and the yellow iron. The episodes so far have featured salient career insight, a discussion of the company’s government affairs, and specific examples of how the company is innovating, At about 30 minutes long, it’s a great length for the commute and it’s available on SoundCloud, iTunes and Google Play.
- Beyond just ‘Fair and Ethical Business Practices,’ The Caterpillar Foundation partners with a dozen different organizations to champion programs that support education, environment, and basic human needs – which help people help themselves out of poverty.
- Caterpillar employs over 105,000 people. (In 1925, they employed just over 2,500.) Some of these employees from all over the world are featured here.
- Caterpillar is putting technology and big data to good use with their Caterpillar Safety Services. Using cameras, smart bands and their own monitoring centers, they help customers who are heavy equipment operators see risks they were unable to see before.
